SCHURTER acquires Burisch and aki electronic

As of 1st January 2017, SCHURTER Holding AG acquires the Austrian Burisch Elektronikteile GmbH and the Czech aki electronic, a manufacturer of keyboards, touch panels and HMI systems. This will enable SCHURTER to increase its production capacity, enlarge its know-how and a geographical expansion to Eastern Europe.

Acquisition of Burisch

Founded in Innsbruck in 1949, Burisch is a long-standing, reliable and well-established partner of SCHURTER. Since 1961, Burisch has been a representative for SCHURTER products in Austria. Burisch is a private distribution and consulting company for electronic and electromechanical components with its own certified cable assembly. Burisch employs 90 people in the subsidiaries belonging to the group in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Switzerland. In 2015 the consolidated annual turnover amounted to around EUR 20 million.

With this integration the SCHURTER Group has enhanced its know-how and improved prospects in the markets of Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The expansion to the east facilitates better management of existing customers and the acquisition of new customers thanks to a well-cooperating team on site and a significantly expanded network. Burisch will continue to operate in Austria under the well-known and established name.

Acquisition of aki

The aki electronic, spol.s r.o. based in Jihlava/CZ, has been producing high-quality input devices for industrial applications, automation industries and medical appliances with its 200 employees since 1992. The Czech manufacturer is active in the core market of Germany/Austria as well as in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Since 1998 aki has been ISO 9001 certified; the area of production since 2015 even ISO 13485 (Medical Standard). In 2015 aki electronic realized consolidated sales of around EUR 9 million.

The purchase and integration of aki into the division Input Systems offers several advantages for the SCHURTER Group: the geographic expansion to Eastern Europe as well as a further strengthening of the already processed DACH market for input systems. Added to this is the advantage of the production site of the Czech Republic with high quality awareness (Medical Standard ISO 13485) at attractive production costs.

The SCHURTER Group, headquartered in Lucerne (Switzerland), which is active in the electronics industry, now employs around 1850 people worldwide. In 2015, it achieved consolidated sales of CHF 191.4 million with its divisions Components and Input Systems
